(GM)’s OnStar service, knew something was amiss when he saw his two sons taking the “suction-cup approach” to in-car navigation. They would turn their iPhones sideways, stick them to the windshield and use a free map app to find their way. That represented a rejection of their father’s life’s work:”
Every journey, every interaction with it starts with the “augmented me”. Augmented by mobile. What I want is access to better antennas, access to API’s (much more than OBDII), and I don’t want to route everything I do through automakers. I can’t imagine it is efficient to have 10 black boxes installed, and yet I need to share my data with others. Let me push my apps to a larger screen. I want Apple or Google to help developers carify the apps. I want my preferences to work on other cars. Example zip car to zip car. I need communication with my car. We can revolutionize parking, routing, traffic control.
The current vision within the Auto industry is too small and limiting. Read more.
